Full day privately guided walk

The Routeburn Track was named one of the top eleven trails in the world by National Geographic Adventure magazine and is rated as one of New Zealand’s best Great Walks. This incredibly special place is located in the Mount Aspiring National Park and forms part of the larger Te Wahipounamu (‘Place of Greenstone’) – one of only a few places in the world with UNESCO ‘World Heritage’ status. The well-formed track forms part of an old Maori route from the West Coast to collect greenstone (pounamu), and passes through towering ancient beech forests and fields of moss and ferns. Throughout the guided walk a variety of landscapes opens up: mountainous peaks; sheer rock faces; alpine basins; pristine lakes; cascading waterfalls; luxuriant forest; turquoise rivers and million-dollar views around every corner.
Your knowledgeable guide will point out the amazing indigenous flora and fauna of the area. The forest is a haven for native birdlife: the Bush Robin, Fantail, Parakeet, Bellbird, and Yellowhead.
The Routeburn Track is relatively easy going for the first two hours before a steep climb up to the Falls Hut where lunch is enjoyed overlooking spectacular alpine views.
Duration of this walk is entirely flexible and dependent on fitness levels. Well-formed walking track (up to 9 kilometres each way).
